  • James Lawler

    Founder & CEO

    James founded Osmosis Films in 2010, and has produced numerous projects for a variety of platforms, including documentary films, narrative features, theater, and television. He produced the documentary films “The Lottery,” about charter schools and the public school system, and ESPN’s 30-for-30 “Fernando Nation.” James graduated from Harvard College.

  • Deana Croog

    Supervising Producer

    Deana oversees a variety of production-related duties at Osmosis. She brings a diverse skill-set to Osmosis, drawing from experiences in non-profits, film festivals, and law. She completed her MA in International Film Business at the London Film School.

  • Zach Russo

    Supervising Producer

    Zach is a Brooklyn-based filmmaker who has produced several documentary features for HBO and A&E, as well as concert films, music videos and other digital content for Sony Music Entertainment. He’s a graduate of Vassar College where he studied film and creative writing.

  • Sarah Cortese

    Creative Director

    Sarah is a director, designer and animator. She has over a dozen years of experience in the industry spanning commercial, television and mobile formats. Some of her clients include Jaguar, NHL, Showtime, Macy's, and United Airlines. In 2014, Sarah received a North American BDA Gold Award in On-Air Typography for her work with Showtime. She graduated with a BA in Film and Television from Northwestern University.

  • Michael Bean

    Business Development

    Michael works on establishing new client relationships, and supporting existing clients on developing new content strategies. He joined Osmosis after over a decade at SB Nation and Vox Media, where he was Director of Video Growth. Michael graduated from the University of Pennsylvania, and has a Master's Degree from the University of Washington in Seattle. He is the editor of three books about the Pittsburgh Steelers.

  • Carrie Hawks

    Senior Motion Designer

    Carrie is a motion designer, animator, and artist. Carrie has designed for Carnegie Hall, Bustle, Al Jazeera America, Wired Magazine, Cartoon Network, and the ACLU. They have over 8 years of experience in design and a BFA in Graphic Design from Georgia State University. Their award-winning film "black enuf*" has screened internationally in London, Cape Town, and Stockholm.

  • Dmitry Iyudin

    Editor

    Dmitry is a New York City based film editor, writer, and musician who has worked on film projects for MTV, IBM, Toyota, and the United Nations. He has also co-written, produced, and scored a short-to-feature sci-fi film “The Garden,” starring Sophia Lillis (It, Sharp Objects). Dmitry’s writing has been published in The New York Times and Reader’s Digest International. He is a graduate of The New School where he studied film and creative writing.

  • Constance Brimelow

    Associate Producer

    Constance comes to Osmosis with experience in both narrative and documentary film. She was the Associate Producer of the award-winning feature documentary THIS IS HOME, a Sundance Film Festival selection in 2018. Before that, she worked at studios including Paramount Pictures and The Weinstein Company, where she honed a discerning sense of storytelling. Constance graduated from Bates College with a degree in Theater & Film.

  • Matt Maraynes

    Associate Producer

    Matt is a filmmaker who has worked in film, TV, and commercial development and production, and other facets of creative media production and distribution. He utilizes his eclectic background in every step of the content creation process. Matt graduated from Tufts University with a degree in History.

  • Becca Burten

    Post-Production Coordinator

    Becca is a filmmaker and editor, with experience in long-form documentary. She has worked on projects for PBS, HBO, and Netflix, and has seen her work premiered at Cannes, Tribeca, Telluride, Toronto, and SXSW Film Festivals. Becca graduated from Dartmouth College with a degree in biology.

  • Axel Baumann

    Cinematographer

    Axel Baumann received his first Emmy nomination in 2005 for Liberia: An Uncivil War, directed by Jonathan Stack and broadcasted on Discovery/Times. In 2008, Axel was awarded an Emmy for Carrier, a 10-part series for PBS. Recently Axel completed cinematography on Herb and Dorothy, an audience award winner at Silverdocs, as well as a biography on Thomas Jefferson for the History Channel.
